Achievements

 

My work has been selected for performance at several conferences both in the UK and beyond. In addition work has been broadcast and performed in the UK, USA, Canada, China, Japan, Czech Republic. I have also had recent research concerning expectation and compositional practice accepted at conferences in the UK.

 

In July 2013, I was selected as a finalist inthe Franz Liszt Stipendium für Akusmatische Komposition Masterclass in Weimar, Germany. I was invited to take part in a four day workshop where I gave a presentation on my work and performed ‘Culture Shock’ in a concert. The masterclass was supervised by Francis Dhomont and Robin Minard.

 

Awarded commissions from Scottish China Education Network, De Montfort University and University Aberdeen to create audio visual installation (with Andrew Connor, University of Edinburgh) for opening of Confucius Institutes, along with acousmatic works and sound documentary exploring the sonic environments of China (self).

 

In October 2012 I was awarded joint first prize at the L’espace du sons international Spatialisation competition. The competition involved preparing several pieces of acousmatic music for performance over a 78 loudspeaker system in front of a panel of internationally distinguished judges, and a large audience.

 

In September 2011, ‘Black Velvet’ was announced as a finalist in the Shanghai Conservatory of Music International Electronic Music Week.

 

In August 2011, ‘Black Velvet’ was selected to be performed at the Toronto Electroacoustic Symposium and Composition intensive.

 

In November 2010, my acousmatic work ‘Black Velvet’ was a finalist at the Musica Nova International Composition Competition.
